When I am Afraid
Our thanksgiving was sweet. Our first as a family of six. No cute family photos though. Ironically, I eventually realized I never even changed out of my sweats! We ended the day on the side of the highway with a blown out tire. It made us laugh, thinking of the timing of all of these things with the past few months we have had. I had the boys, Paul had left earlier with Ella. While we waited for them to come help, the boys said how afraid they were being so close to the fast cars. So we prayed. Then Kai said, I remember a song Mrs Fields taught me when you and daddy went to India. He sang, “when I am afraid, I will trust in you, I will trust in you. When I am afraid, I will trust in you.” These things that my kids learn from their teachers are what I care most about. And really, isn’t that one of the greatest realities to be thankful for this year? I love it when my kids remind me of what is true.
